On the Release of PhoXoSee V1.4
The second update in less than a month!
This time, the biggest changes are the customizable toolbar and the replacement of the FreeImage library — which has cut the installer size in half.
FreeImage was a great library that let developers forget about file formats and focus on building a good user experience. But it hasn’t received any updates since 2018. Thankfully, with the help of AI, development has become much more efficient. In this version, I finally decided to say goodbye to FreeImage and switched to a combination of five lightweight libraries: LibWebP, lunaSVG, stb, tinyEXR, and OpenJpeg.
April is my birthday month, and my daughter gave me a little gift that I really loved. I’ve added it into the software as a hidden Easter egg — try double-clicking the icon in the About dialog and see what happens! 😜
